Four fun things to do in Grimsby!
The Beeches Hotel is based in Grimsby, and although it has received some poor press over the years (probably due to its name coming from the Danish word for Grim), we wanted to show everybody just how wonderful Grimsby could be!
In this blog, you’ll find our 4 favourite places to visit throughout the whole of Grimsby. On top of these, our hotel in Grimsby and the restaurant Grimsby.
Tucked away behind a number of houses in Bargate, you’ll find a large, scenic park that hosts a lake, playing fields and even greenhouses. Of course, we’re talking about People’s Park. You can take a ball with your kids to run around with, feed the beautiful families and ducks and swans and you can even view a host of natures favourite animals and woodland creatures living in their habitats. There’s a Gardening Centre, which is ideal for your little ones as they can visit the various animal enclosures that holds birds, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs! Brilliantly, a number of the things to do inside the park is free, so you can have hours of fun with the family enjoying nature and appreciating the animals.
Although you may already know it, Grimsby is an incredibly important port for Britain, with a Museum in the town dedicated to the fishing heritage. A number of exhibits sit inside the museum, offering video look backs at the history of the town and its role in Britain’s history. A host of smells, sights and sounds are to be had, bringing history to life in a fantastic manner. The museum is located just outside of the town, with a small admission fee for visitors.
Be situated just a 10 minute walk from the centre of the town, the Fuzzy Ed Indoor Soft Play Area offers a wonderful hour of fun for your children. Entrance is a minimal £2.50 per child, a small price to pay for what’s on offer! The massive two storey playground has ball pit, tunnels, slides, climbing equipment and even zip wires! Luckily, Fuzzy Ed run a ‘toddler time’, which allows your little ones to go in and have massive amounts of fun without the fear of being knocked over! There’s a sizeable amount of desks and chairs where the adults can sit and chat, read a magazine or two and have a cup of tea.
A few miles out of Grimsby, you’ll find the beautiful Elsham Hall which is full of wonderful country gardens. Planted with some of nature’s most beautiful plants, Elsham Hall has a wide range of wonderful flowers for everybody to see. Children can come too, as a playground sits in the gardens, next to a butterfly garden, historic cottages and even a mini farm that has goats and chickens! Just remember to bring a picnic!
